money...what a pilot can do with his budget

Post by Konny » Fri Oct 21, 2005 3:20 pm

Well, currently the answer is, nothing. And so we need your help. If you have a good idea of things a pilot can invest his money in, please tell us here.

Some ideas from us are:
  • Purchase of houses, private aircrafts, ...
  • Playing games in a casino
  • Stock exchange
  • Purchase of Type-Ratings ( Without the proper Type-Rating you want be able to fly the aircraft )

The comment about what to do with money and response of investing in stocks raises another thought... are the arilines listed on a virtual stock exchange? Could buy shares in the airline you fly for

Is the VA stock exchange due to reopen soon, maybe...

type ratings for a pilto are quite often provided by the va. Maybe get this as an option for the vas if they want to use larger aircraft. For the pilot thought his initial commercial license should be his own as well as maybe the options for buying aircraft. I know I've always wanted my own private Beech18 to go puttering around in. A stock exchange as well is a great idea but leads into my next thought. If you get good at the stock exchange you may just end up making money which means that you've totally wasted the reason for even putting it in there. Maybe a casino isn't such a bad idea after all but leads to the next topic. Is this site ready to handle the bandwidth of all those gambling addict pilots? A definate choice should be homes for the pilots (as far as I can tell they are currently sleeping on the seats at the gate between flights)

I was thinking, how about buying "Education" for piloting, IE books, simulator time. For a set price, pilots can buy exemptions, so say you forgot the landing lights on takeoff, if you've prepaid before the flight a set amount, the landing lights infraction won't show up, because you've practiced and therefor pilot error didn't occur ;)

Now a price per percent, maybe 500$ per percent off, so it would cost 5000$ to completely wipe out an infraction.

Just a thought.

I also like the homes idea, maybe a familiarity one? Pilot gets 10% discount on fuel at an airport he lives close to, since he knows all the providers and which ones will give him (or her) the best deal.

Advertising is a great idea, but I think it should be the airlines who can advertise and not the pilot ;-)

A pilot could do many things like buying cars, houses etc. and I like the idea as a final status of a pilot's money but let's don't leave investments aside. Titles of Airlines, Hotels. Restaurants etc. the hotels and the restaurants could actually be somehow connected to the airlines routes earning more or less money to their owners (the owners of the hotels and restaurants) depending on how many passegners are travelling to the related cities.
I know all these might be available in the far future but stand and think a bit of what FlyNet could be one day...

Personally, I can't see anything to do with the pilot's money, as it is not real money.

Maybe Konny you could contact Microsoft and ask that they reward any pilot with 1 millions v$ with a $10US off the purchase of the next flight simulator. win both ways....

Now if they even want to negotiate, that's the question...
