Server Upgrade

Post by joefremont » Thu Jul 30, 2009 6:21 am

Since we have clearly outgrown the server we have been using, we are in the process of upgrading the server here at FSAirlines.net. We have aquired a new server from godaddy to allow us to keep operating while we explore a more perminate solution. We have already moved the main database over to this machine and will move the rest of the site over to it in the next week or so. You should not notice much difference except that the system will be faster, and not crash as much.

We still need everyone we can to take part in the server test on Friday, so please take part if you are available.

Hi All,

Later today I will be shutting down the forum and wiki for up to half an hour each to move there databases over to the new server. This will most likely happen around 10pm UTC or 3pm US-Pacific.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Edit: The wiki is already moved, the forum is still to come.

Forum and wiki database are now moved.

The wiki itself is now running on the new server.

Joe,

I've been trying to get in a major overhaul of the wiki but due to the server issues I have not been able to. Should I go ahead and start work on it or wait till the server test is completed?

The server upgrade is now complete.

We have now moved the last of our services off the old server and are now running everything on the new server.

Thanks for your patience during this process.

Wow!

Logged onto the main FlyNET (sorry, I still refer to it as its old name :) ) website today, and it is much faster and smoother. Hurrah for the new server. Well done, guys. :D

We have started the server upgrade process again and have placed an order for a new upgraded server. Once our provider has setup the basic system we will move the database over to it, this will releive the problems we have been having on the current server. I will keep you posted here as we make more progress.

Sorry for that last outage. We have moved the main database over to the new server and everything should be good to go now.

For the next few days we will be running the web site from the old server and the database from the new server, next week we will migrate the remaining systems over to the new system.

Thanks for your patience.
