DC for 8k?

Are you sure this is not a typo? One of my va members purchased one today for 8k. Seems a little cheap considering the BE18 cost me 250k.

Yea, it's very cheap. But someone told me you can really get it for $8000 these days.

Yes, but there's something you're leaving out in that 8K purchase price -

Airworthiness.

If you buy it for 8K, it is most definitely NOT in airworthy condition and is most likely a corroded hulk of an airplane that would be uneconomical to repair.

If you want to sell the plane for 8K, great. Just be sure that they understand they can't fly it OR they need to pay around $200K to make it airworthy again and get it certified to fly revenue flights under FAR 125, 135, or 121.

DC-3 Price

I'm the one that added the DC-3 at $8,000.

"After the World War 2, hundreds and hundreds of airfields could be used to set up an air system, using the enormous amount of war surplus transports that became available. The C-47/DC-3 was easily adaptable for all sorts of operations and available in a generous amount. Prices for a secondhand DC-3 ranged from $8.000 to $15.000."

Now of course, yes, this price is from waaaaaaayy back when. But its the best price I could find for a DC-3 searching on the Internet. Couldn't find a current price.

well, if that was the price 60 years ago, it really needs an update. Any suggestions for a new price ?

Well figure it this way according to Airliners.net the seating available is 21 with a three abreast configuration. The BE18 is capable of holding only 9-15 (depending on the model number) and we're paying 250K for it. I used the BE18 as an example because they are of similar age and configurations. So maybe 300-350K? sound reasonable?

Sounds good to me. I changed the value to $350.000. All existing aircrafts will be automatically updated when you repair or fly with them.

Actually, a good DC-3 runs around $250K - $300K, the few that are left. $350K is getting a bit on the high side for the aircraft mainly because the airframes don't have enough life left on them to support that high of a price.

Just for historical reasons, the specific aircraft is in my fleet with a new Greek registration. I just grabbed it when I saw it in the traders' market.
