Percentage of aircraft cost to aircraft revenue

Post by Pringle » Sat Feb 10, 2007 12:40 pm

Surely this has got to be one of the best aircraft cost to revenue ratio, Convair 580 for 675,000, brings in 955,000 on its first flight from Gatwick to Cardiff. Anyone else got some tales of good ratios?

but this ratio depends on how much fuel was in to start with, how much you paid for, rep and so on. so it could give you a really bad ratio if these factors werent in your favour. But still, nice little earner!!!

The Boeing 727 can give you a surprisingly good deal...

The Il-96 is the stuff of legends on flynet,

I can vouch for the legendary status of the Il-96 :D

However, I'd consider the DC3 to have the best cost to revenue ratio.

I'm not going to complaint about the 737.

93% pax, 500 miler trip brought in v$10 mill. Even when loading fuel, I still have to see a loss in a flight 8)

I did a comparison of some of the aircraft in my airline, in terms of average revenue per hour, factoring out the multiplier and crew costs:

Lockheed L-1011: 14748
Boeing 727-200 Adv: 8228
Douglas DC-4: 2624
Douglas DC-3: 1841

But if you then divide that by the aircraft price (in millions) you get:

Douglas DC-3: 6138
Douglas DC-4: 5248
Boeing 727-200 Adv: 2056
Lockheed L-1011: 124

So those old propliners are a great value.
