Fuel consumption

Post by BVU-951 » Fri Jan 01, 2021 11:56 pm

Microsoft Flight Simulator boeings are not using enough fuel. And I have also noticed Antonov 225 for some VA's are not using the correct amount.
To make it a level playing field is there a way that fsairlines could use average fuel consumption for all flights.
Also the client is letting aircraft take off overweight.

All flights with suspicious fuel consumptions are flagged for Admin review and 99.99% of the time we adjust them to have used the average fuel burn. VA operators can always request a flight review at any time as well, please give a detailed reason why you are requesting the review. "Sim bug" might not get you the result you are looking for. ;)

So yes we are aware of the problem and are doing our best to keep it controlled.

Suspicious flights in question that did not purchase enough fuel for the flight at normal rates are backcharged for the additional fuel and the flight revenue is automatically recalculated.

Yeah that one I have no control over, hopefully that is something in Joe's update coming tomorrow night when the system goes down for the airport code/client 2021 update. Even though I am now assisting with some smaller admin duties, we still have only one developer/coder and that is Joe Fremont who has done such an outstanding job single handedly.

No one does this "full time" for a job.

WOW Congrats I thought our VA was one of the older ones ... Tim started it in 2012, I've been on since 2014. I just made the 3000/3000 club in the last quarter of 2020. We fly 1x only so no long internationals much.

OMG, it makes me happy when I see people who have used it so much! Thank you.

I know the boeings in MSFS are pretty bad with there fuel usage. The B78X only uses about the 1/3 of what it should and the B748 uses more than it should, I can't do much for the 748 but as Sam said we do have a system for recalculating the fuel usage after the fact.

Now when you say that the "client is letting aircraft take off overweight", what do you mean. The client does make sure, based on the payload from the booked flight, the AC weight from the database and the fuel being loaded you don't exceed MTOW and MZFW, but it does not look at the actual weight of the aircraft in the sim or the payload you have loaded in the sim.

While checking the in sim weights might be a good project for a future client update, tomorrows updates are about the airport codes and fixing some internal database inconsistencies that nobody sees but me and if those later changes goes well then nobody will notice anything different.

If you overfill the aircraft using simple fueling and it shows you are overweight, click change and fly quickly. Then it doesn't change the fuel and allows you to take off. This happened to me accidentally with my recent Antonov 225 flight that took off fully loaded with packages and 100% fuel.
I was able to fly from London to Bangkok non stop.

All our flights are done at 1x and all mine are done with full crash on except for the last couple of A225 flights.

Interesting, that bug must have been in there for quite a while, will add that to the todo list.

Joe have you a rough idea as to when this will be fixed, as to many people are now flying max distance with max load. Some of our members are wondering how some relatively new VA's are making so much profit in such a small space of time.
Thanks for all the work you do
