Boeing 737-800 limit
Boeing 737-800 limit
Heya,
I've created a route in the system from LPPT(LIsbon) to LGRP(Rhodes), a distance of 1763 miles. The system says the limit of the 737-800 is 3063 miles, but I didn't make it to my destination while I did fuel up all the engines fully. Can someone tell me what the problem is? Thanks!
Greetz,
Shane

Perhaps the fuel section of the aircraft you are using is wrong,it should look something like this:-
[fuel]
// Total Fuel - 46,063 lbs, 6814 US Gallons -- Total Usable Fuel - 46,000 lbs, 6804 US Gallons
//
Center1 = 5.000, 0.000, 0.000, 4260.000, 0.000 // Center Tank
LeftMain = 3.000, -19.000, 0.000, 1272.000, 0.000 // Main 1 Tank
RightMain = 3.000, 19.000, 0.000, 1272.000, 0.000 // Main 2 Tank
fuel_type = 2 //Fuel type: 1 = Avgas, 2 = JetA
number_of_tank_selectors = 1
electric_pump=0
You can find this section in the aircraft cfg.file.If it doesn,t look like this you can copy and paste the above into your aircraft cfg.file deleting the corresponding section.
If this is not the problem you might be flying too fast which will burn more fuel,your cruise speed should be about Mach 78 in a B737-800.
Hope this helps.

Re: Boeing 737-800 limit
Also, please note that actual range is subject to several factors like winds, payload, and the fuel itself.
What I mean by this is that if you're flying against a headwind, your range will be less.
If you're flying with a heavy payload, your range will be less both because you burn more fuel to keep the plane in the air due to the need for more thrust and because you can't carry as much fuel due to MTOW restrictions.
If you're flying with a lot of extra fuel, your range will be less because you are having to use more thrust (and thus more fuel) to carry the extra fuel that you didn't need to carry. You only want to carry the fuel required to fly to the route plus your reserves and not much else unless your fuel price at the destination is significantly high enough that carrying through fuel is worth it (but at that range, you won't have that choice, you'll have to buy fuel either way).

Hmmm, I'll try and take a look in my aircraft.cfg
I was fully loaded with fuel and payload but I had a groundspeed of around 550 knts per hour.. So I even arrived quicker then expected. Anyway I'll give it another try and see what happens, thanks for the help

Re: Boeing 737-800 limit
I have had a couple people complain that the default 737-800 gulps fuel at a furious rate. Where you using that?
If not:
Try flying at 36,000 or 35,000ft and mach .78 (as mentioned) and you will get better results

Could try installing RKG Fuelstat gauge,(rg_fstt3.zip) available on Flightsim.com.This will give you a good idea if you are going to make it to your destination.

Yes Bryan it was a standard with an EasyJet texture
Re: Boeing 737-800 limit
Shane, 550 kn is a bit faster than Mach .78, try slowing down a little.

the default 737-800 does gulp fuel. it wont be much more than 1500nm no matter what the loads are. i would suggest using the posky 737's in fsx.

For my short haul aircraft i fly at 32,000 - 33,000ft at 280KIAS and long haul, big aircraft i fly at 34,000 - 36,000ft at 290KIAS.
