Press Release: May 3rd, 2009

North Eastern Cargo is announcing at this time that we our, effective immediately, stopping all cargo service from Memphis Intl Airport. The decision came after a long process that ultimately determined that the airport wasn’t the right place for us. The main reason for this is the cost to fly out of the airport, which has the highest fuel prices of all airports the North Eastern Airways Group serves throughout the whole world. Also influencing the decision was the fact that after opening up nearly a year ago, we still hadn’t gone fully operational.

Our original intention for the airport was to be our largest cargo hub and to be our only pure freight hub. It was going to serve flights the majority of the US and Canada along with parts of Europe where our aircrafts' range permitted. We will continue to serve the airport with passenger and cargo flights, but all will be to one of our domestic hubs.

North Eastern Cargo’s main hub will now be Pittsburgh Intl Airport, where the service originally started. Over the next few days, all cargo aircraft will be sent back to Pittsburgh.

In other news, North Eastern Airways has announced that Guarulhos Intl Airport (SBGR) in Sao Paulo, Brazil will become our South American hub for the airline. We intend on starting Passenger and Cargo services to the airport later this year. We will serve all of the major cities of South America and all of Brazil's, along with many International flights from Sao Paulo.

Since our last Press release, North Eastern Airways has continued its normal operations and its customer satasfaction along with continuingly working on its expansion program. We have since taken delivery of two Airbus A319's finishing our order for three of the type. These new A319's are based at EGSS and NZAA. Our first is based out of LTBA.

In other news, North Eastern Cargo has announced that they have retired their fleet of three MD-11F's and will be replaced with Boeing 777-200LRF's. The MD-11F entered service with NEC on May 5th, 2008 when they were aquired in the merger of British Airways Virtual Cargo. Press Release: July 29th, 2009

North Eastern Airways has sold its three MD-11F's to Amazonas Cargo, Portugal JET and Quantum Airways. We will begin receiving new 777-200LRF's to replace these aircraft in the next few months.

In other news, NEA has decided to update their sports teams aircrafts. We have decided to give the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, new Boeing 777-200LR's to replace their 757-200's. All aircraft will feature an all new livery scheme (customized for each team from the base sports team livery which is based off our NNC livery), new aircraft names and new customized interiors.

The Steelers Mobile will become Steelers One. The interior will have black, gold (yellow) and white two-toned leather seats with the steelers logo on every headrest. First class seats will be white with gold accents; Business will have gold with black accents; Economy will have black seats with gold as the accent. Also every baggage bin will have some sort of picture and fact about the Steelers on it, with every bin being different. The Penguins Mobile will become Penguin One. The interior will have black, gold (actual gold), white, blue and dark blue two-toned leather seats with the Penguin logo on every headrest. First class seats will be white with gold being the accent color; Business will have blue seats with dark blue accents (like the throw back uniforms); Economy will have black seats with gold as the accent. Also every baggage bin will have some sort of picture and fact about the penguins on it with every bin being different.

These aircraft will serve their team during their season's and will also be used for normal flights when permitting or when games are at home. In the off seasons, these planes will be used on normal flights throughout our network so they could be seen flying throughout the states or could be at Cape Town, South Africa or Dublin, Ireland or Sydney, Australia or anywhere else we fly to with them.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will keep their current 757, but it will feature a new livery with their own details, a new interior and a name change to Pirates One. It will have the same features as all the other aircraft.

Since the Steelers and Penguins will have all new aircraft for their use, this leaves us with two 757's that need to be repainted. We have decided to repaint one aircraft in the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt Panthers) colors (Dark Blue and actual Gold)and the other will be in Penn State colors (Blue and white). These aircraft will just be repainted aircraft with the Standard NEA Signature Interior with the two-toned, blue and silver leather seating with the standard IFE systems. Pitt will use their's to travel to away games for both their Football and Basket Ball programs during the seasons, while Penn State will only be using their's for their Football team.

We also will be repainting a 737-800 in the colors of Westminster College, a private college north of Pittsburgh. It however will have NEA's Standard signature Interior with the two-toned, blue and silver leather seats with standard IFE systems.

All three of these college aircraft will have a completely customized livery.

Press Release: December 22nd, 2009

North Eastern Airways is confirming at this time that, yesterday an accident occurred around 7AM (EST) at Washington's National Airport. The aircraft, a 737-800 (N1003NE), was arriving from Columbus, Ohio, when during a bad snow storm overran the runway and went into the Potomac River. All 149 passengers and 6 crew members were able to make it out of the aircraft safely without any serious injuries.

Conditions at DCA weren't the greatest. Visibility was at 1 mile with a solid cloud base at 3000ft. Winds were at 15kts when the plane touched down. Runway condition was poor, with the majority of it covered in snow and parts with ice on it. After touching down, the Captain, Hus Ozturk who was pilot in command, applied full reversers. As the plane slowly began to slow down, he realized that he was not getting enough braking power and was going to abort the landing but was going to slow to be able to get back off in the amount of runway left. The Aircraft broke through the airport fence and the nose gear collapsed as it stopped half in the river and have on the river's banks with the cockpit partially submerged in water. The crew quickly got the Emergency exits open and had all passengers off the plane within 75 seconds. Emergency vehicles arrived on scene within a minute of all passengers being off the plane.

This is the first accident North Eastern Airways has ever had fatal or non-fatal.

The plane was removed from the river today and was taken to one of our hangars at our base. We are currently looking to see if the plane is salvageable or if it will be written off.
