Owning Airports

Just wondering if owning Airpots could be come a thing, as Airlines start to make a lot of money they could look at buying an airport, a Feature of this could be a % of parking fee's go to the airlines

I don't know of any airline in the real world that actually "owns" an airport. For me, it would not be a realistic feature but then again, that's just one person's opinion. Most airports are government facilities, be it state, county, etc. For an airline owning an airport, as owners they could easily capture full market share by denying permission to land for all other airlines. Gate and landing slots are highly sought after commodities in the real flying business.

true most airlines to own gates, some airports are owned by share holders so you could buy shares in an airpot?

I agree with Sam that Airports are typically government owned and would not want any VA cornering the market at a major airport. If we were it add gate fees then owning/renting gates would make sense. Maybe even having a terminal.
