Aircraft Storage Airports.

Aircraft Storage,

One thing on our system, when airlines are dissolved, their aircraft are just left where ever they last flew. And when out of production aircraft are generated they go to a handful of major airports around the world that are generally too busy to be considered as a good place to store aircraft. So for some time I have been looking for alternate locations for aircraft storage, when out of production aircraft are generated or when FSA Aviation has had the aircraft for more than a week at a regular airport, the aircraft will then be moved to a storage airport. So far here is my short list of airports.

North America
KMHV - Mojave Air and Space Port - USA
KIGM - Kingman, Arizona
KGYR - Goodyear, Phoenix, Arizona, USA
KROW - Roswell, New Mexico
KVCV - Southern California Logistics Airport - Victorville, California

Europe
EGBP - Cotswold Airport - UK
LFBT - Tarbes - France

Africa
FAUP - Upington International Airport - South Africa

Asia/Pacific
UCFM - Manas International Airport - Kyrgyzstan
YBAS - Alice Springs - Australia

Any Comments?

Right now if an aircraft does not fly, it does not need maintenance, if we ever implement a system where an idle plane deteriorates if its not used we could say that if its at a storage airport there is no loss, but if you fly into or out of a storage airport there is no revenue generated. But this is an idea for later not right now.

Another project for down the line is for in production aircraft, add the location of the factory to the database, so all new aircraft of that type would start there lives there, but again, that's a project for later.

I just tried to fly out of LETL - Teruel - Spain and ran into some problems, manly that its not in the FSX/P3D database. I downloaded a version of it that someone created for FS2004 but when I tried to use it the airport itself was in a deep pit and I could not gain enough altitude to take off using my fully loaded DC-4. I am going to decommission Teruel as a storage airport and transfer all of FSA Aviation's aircraft to LFBT.

Anybody know of another storage airport in Spain or maybe north Africa?
