Fuel Calc Beta

Our admins have been able to use it for a while but now I'ld like to make it public. I'm currently testing some methods to calculate the fuel for the flights on FSAirlines and would like to hear about your experiences. When you click on "Briefing document" after booking a flight you will now find a "Fuel Calc Beta" link where you can see the fuel values for two different calculation methods I've implemented. I personally think the "statistical" method is more reliable but I'ld like to hear your opinion, too. And also if you generally think that would be a useful tool.

Hiya Konny

Sounds like a great idea... I did some testing in some 747 series aircraft and have posted the average results from those on our va page Brussels Busy Jet to assist our pilots

When i try it ,it only shows the fuel flow figures.Statically is all zero,s. :?:
I tried it again and it now shows F/F and Statically.

Any chance of getting it to convert to lbs for those of us in the States who have our system set for lbs? Lost my "whirly slide rule" kg to lbs converter in the cockpit somewhere....I think it's down between the quadrant and the chart bin ....

Great idea though, it really gives the new guys a fighting chance without feeling so overwhelmed. Thanks!

Sorry, forgot about the lbs conversion. Should be fixed now.

@Stan
What was the flight where you didn't see the statistical data? Probably one which no one else has ever done with that aircraft type, because then it won't show any data.

It was a beech k/a and i am flying an A340-300 at the moment and i never got the Statistical for this.I did get it when i was flying an A380 though.I was flying all over the French Polynesian Islands in the Beech K/A and so i guess it was the first time anybody has flown around here.I am currently flying from Tahiti to Aukland in my A343 and so i guess nobody has flown this flight before.
I must admit that i like adding new scenery and then flying around to see what it looks like.

Thanks for the lbs conversion Konny! It looks to be spot on for the 737 based on my previous flight data. I usually don't cut corners and carry an hour extra for all flights. Once it's in the tanks, you don't won't be penalized for keeping that nice fat reserve. 6000 lbs for a 737 is my normal target touchdown fuel quantity. The beta planner is great for cross checking fuel calculations during pre flight. If it's close, I'll run my calcs. If it is way off, I'll stop and double check my calcs and usually find an error in my calcs.

Best idea to come out of FSA in the past year! Well done and thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS:

Finally I observed that you chose the proposal; that makes me feel satisfyied because all the pilotos will use this information in order to make better fuel calculations.

Thanks,

When flying with advanced models (QW 757, Level-D 763, QW RJ100, iFly 737NG), the "FuelFlow-based" calculation seems more accurate. Will keep experiencing. Congratulations for this new tool ;-)

Also, LPPR-LPFR with the RJ1H does not show the statistic calculation.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Will see if I can improve the statistical method to show some date from mostly similar flights if the route hasn't been flown before.

Greetings.

I've flown from LPPT to VMMC (Lisbon to Macau) with a PSS B777-200LR under IVAO real weather and here's the deal:

- FSA Fuel-flow statistic: 92979Kg
- Route flown (SID and STAR excluded): ~=6300nm
- Complied with FMC step climbs
- Block fuel: 87894Kg
- Flight ended with 5085Kg on board (if I had loaded the acft with the suggested FSA Fuel-flow ammount)

I was afraid 93t was short, also because the FMC indicated me "Insuficient fuel", so I loaded a bit more wich turned out to be un-necessary.

Fuel-flow statistics are rockin'

Hello friends:
After a year of using the fuel Calc beta I can say that the results have been excellent. Thanks

Good night...

Just to inform that I planned a flight from OMDB to LFPG, 747-400 default, take off at 230 kts @1800fpm to fl140, then 250 kts @1600fpm to fl330,,at fl330 speed up to 300 kts.
Had all heather conditions off. Fueld up at the first corner before second corner to enter rwy 30l in Dubai..fuel amount ...I added 4000 lbs more then the ff if bassed said...116386 so the total was 120386......DIDNT MAKE IT was short by 600 plus milles or 25 minuts with 4000 lbs left on a descent of 66 fpm, 220 kts plus two engines shutdown....Should be around 150000 to be on the safe side..Ill give it a new try and write...thank you..
