Distance to airports
Hi all,
I don't know if you've already heard this idea, but this suddenly came up into my mind.
One of my pilots made a flight from EHAM to EHRD. That is a flight from 24 nautical miles, and took 11 minutes.
There were 120 passengers onboard(Boeing 738).
120 passengers!! They should better take the train, that is shorter(no checking in etc.), and much cheaper.
I think it isn't realistic that on such a short flight, there are 120 passengers onboard.
Ok, it's nice for the money, but I think the distance and time of the flight should affect the number of passengers.
Tom.

I tend to agree with you, for that short of a distance very few would by tickets for that. But the airport were on an island (think Jersey or the Hawaiian islands) where there were no direct roads or trains it would be more plausible. Also if the flight was continuing to other destinations, a lot of passengers will stay on the aircraft and continue to some father away destination.
These are not things we have solutions for yet, but we are thinking about it.
