Just thinking about "managers" and "directors" positions

Might it not be a little more realistic if there were a couple more management positions

Frinstance

Change "Director"
to
Director of Operations - Would have all the powers of type rating, kicking and promoting amongst the pilots but NOT the
power to buy and sell aircraft or terminate the airline

Director of Maintenance - same power as Manager but the only person in the company apart from CEO to schedule
maintenance on the aircraft

Chief Navigator - with the ability to creat, cancel and change routes

Just a thought

And yes I know its not feasible for small VA s with only a couple of members - but some of the larger VAs are getting to the
point where their numbers make it not only feasible but practiable as well

Yea, a lot of people are requesting something like that. I think I'll make so that you can create custom ranks for your airline.

In my opinion the permissions of the manager should be changed to allow

Hiring of pilots
Managing of type ratings

But now allow

Buying/Selling/Leasing of aircraft.

I think Konny is thinking along the lines that I suggested some time back. You create custom positions for your staff with whatever title you wish to give them and a list of functions that you wish to be available for them. A bit like type rating your pilots, give them the functions you want them to use and nothing else. So all the available options will be available for CEO's to choose by a tick box and then hit the update. Once you've given them the functions, then give them a title of whatever you want. I also think the hiring option should be seperated from the firing option. That way your managers can hire someone in your absense, give/withdraw type ratings as required but not fire anyone. If someone is being disruptive to a VA, the managers can withdraw type ratings and the CEO can deal with them later.

I knew Id seen something like it - we (the folks at VHA) were having a chat about it - and it would be nice to great positions
as in real life with specific responisbilities


in that Case I second Johns proposal
