Seaplane & Helicopter Operations on FSAirlines

Post by CAPFlyer » Mon Feb 19, 2007 5:51 am

Seaplane and Helicopter operations are supported by the FSAirlines client, however there is one important item that needs to be checked for on ALL aircraft that you intend to use on FSAirlines. FSAirlines identifies the end of a flight as the application of the Parking Brake. Obviously, aircraft without wheels will not have a parking brake installed (at least in real life). However, because of the requirement, we will need to add a "fake" parking brake to the aircraft in order for FSAirlines to be able to register the end of the flight. This process is fairly straightforward. All one needs to do is follow this process -

1) Open Windows Explorer.
2) Browse to your Flight Simulator's "Aircraft" folder.
3) Browse to the aircraft you wish to check for the presence of a Parking Brake (i.e. "Bell_206" for the default Jetranger)
4) Open the file labelled "Aircraft.CFG" with Notepad.
5) Using the Notepad Search Function, search for the following phrase - "parking_brake=1" (without quotes)
6) If you can't find this, then scroll to the end of the file and add the following lines:

For Flight Simulator 9:
[brakes]
parking_brake=1

For Flight Simulator X:
[brakes]
parking_brake=1
toe_brakes_scale =0.00
auto_brakes = 0

7) Save the "Aircraft.CFG" file.

Now you can use your helicopter or seaplane with FSAirlines.

Mayday! Mayday Mayday!
I have tried and Tried again till I'm blue in the face and almost bust from all the parking fines for not using brakes and I still can't get the parking brakes to work. I am using FSX and the VA flies Bell 206 and MD530, both with skids. I have tried the fix above on both the DodoSim and the Microsoft Bells and also the MD530 F to avail. I am still getting Penalties when I end flight.
Can anyone help. I'm Desperate as the VA is a Helicopter only VA.
