Problem with A380

Post by gehatz » Tue Nov 20, 2007 1:43 am

Hello there,

We are having serious financial losses when using the A380 for our flights at Global Airlines. We leased an A380 a few days ago and so far we have conducted 3 flights with this aircraft, resulting in a massive - 131.683.000 v$ loss.

In more detail the first flight was from Birmingham Intl to New Jork JFK:

Distance: 2932nm
Duration: 08:15 (8.3h)
Block Fuel: 136076 kg
Income from tickets: PAX (525) x Ticketprice (313v$) 164.325v$
Fuel costs: Fuelprice (1.64v$) x 1.234 x Fuel bought (136076kg ) -275.385v$
Crew & catering costs: -2.625v$
Cargo income: 0.06v$/100nm x Distance (2932nm) x Cargo (22906kg ) 39.647v$
Bonus 0v$
Pilot salary: Airline Income x Pilot salary percentage 0v$
Gross profit: -74.038v$
x Multiplier (500) -37.019.000v$

Flight 2: KJFK-EGBB

Distance: 2932nm
Duration: 06:46 (6.8h)
Block Fuel: 140000 kg
Income from tickets: PAX (525) x Ticketprice (313v$) 164.325v$
Fuel costs: Fuelprice (1.35v$) x 1.234 x Fuel bought (140000kg ) -233.226v$
Crew & catering costs: -2.625v$
Cargo income: 0.06v$/100nm x Distance (2932nm) x Cargo (22906kg ) 39.647v$
Bonus 0v$
Pilot salary: Airline Income x Pilot salary percentage 0v$
Gross profit: -31.879v$
x Multiplier (500) -15.939.500v$

Flight 3: EGBB-KLAX

Distance: 4660nm
Duration: 11:50 (11.8h)
Block Fuel: 192353 kg
Income from tickets: PAX (525) x Ticketprice (481v$) 252.525v$
Fuel costs: Fuelprice (1.64v$) x 1.234 x Fuel bought (226796kg ) -458.981v$
Crew & catering costs: -2.625v$
Cargo income: 0.05v$/100nm x Distance (4660nm) x Cargo (22906kg ) 51.631v$
Bonus 0v$
Pilot salary: Airline Income x Pilot salary percentage 0v$
Gross profit: -157.449v$
x Multiplier (500) -78.724.500v$

The ticket prices for all flights are the standard flynet prices for those routes. The fuel inside the aircraft before each flight is 0kg and for the firt two flights, block fuel = fuel purchased. The third flight to KLAX was conducted to see if the EGBB-KJFK route was too short for an A380 to yield a profit. The EGBB-KJFk and EGBB-KLAX flights were done on a freeware FSX A380 and the KJFK-EGBB flight was done on the PSS A380.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

George

um can u give a download link for the a/c? its because u are having to refuel at the begining of every flight, but when the flights ends, is there fuel still left showing in FS? if so then that sounds like a client or site problem.

Your fuel usage seams really high, your first two flights your block fuel and fuel bought are identical, are you flying with unlimited fuel??? Plus you are buying fuel at an airport that charges alot.

There is no download link for the PSS A380 because it is payware, however, in the first two flights there was no fuel left in the tanks. No I'm not flying with unlimited fuel. At both flights I ran out of fuel shortly after touchdown. So I guess that it is the aircraft i'm using then? Does anyone have a freeware model that you use?

thanks

Well i use the Robert Versluy version and can do a 8000 mile trip with a block fuel of 180,000KG.Available on avsim file (a380_800_2005a.zip) and panel (a380_fs9.zip.zip).I know it has got two zips in the title but that is what it is called.

What altitude are you cruising at ? You will use less fuel at a higher cruise flight level.

For a long flight like that 370 is probably too high to start. You should probably start around 330 and then step climb to 370 as you burn off fuel. That should help your fuel consumption quite a bit.

I have found that the 380-800 flys best at 35,000 feet and air speed of 250-260 when I fly it faster like the B747's it uses a lot of fuel.
