i'm perplexed, on the last few flights when i flew the system added cargo but on my last flight to LFPG no caro was added, i only changed from a a320 to an a321 but no cargo was added. how is cargo worked out on a standard flight?

I though I could shine some light on this by doing the math but my results did not make any sence.

JetDirect A320 flight on 10/23
112 pax @ 100kg each + 4290kg cargo (max 9125) + 5000kg fuel = 20114kg + 42220 dry weight = 62334kg
14666kg below MTO.

JetDirect A321 flight on 10/26
118 pax @ 100kg each + 152kg cargo (max 3286) + 4000kg fuel = 15952kg + 47776 dry weight = 63728kg.
29773kg below MTO.

That the A321 cargo capacity is so much lower than the A320 seams very strange given that it has a much higher MTO but we are not bumping up against that limit.

Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

And while they are at it, how does flynet calculate the cargo rate (v$/100nm) the rate seams to be pretty random.

Hi,

FlyNET allows a baggage allowance of 25kgs per passenger which is deducted from the available cargo weight.

So for any given flight if you multiply the number of pax by 25kgs and deduct this from available cargo weight, this will be the maximum cargo that you will carry. When you factor your VA rep and pilot rating this can be lower.

Cargo capacity in the FlyNET database for the A321 was probably interpolated. I put in the A320 weight based on this website among others.

The A321's cargo capacity should be around 9435kg (as per this website and others) and I know that's what I put in several months ago, so I don't know why it was revised downward since then as it shouldn't have been approved with a lower cargo capacity after I put that one in when we added that field.

Either way, I have corrected the cargo capacity for the A321 to the above figure so that should solve your problem.
