C-130

Post by cmdrnmartin » Mon Oct 16, 2006 5:31 pm

I figure someone deleted the C-130 entry, and replaced it with the L-100, regardless, a big chunk of my Herc fleet is no longer present...

I put in an edit to change the name of the C-130 to L-100 since that is what lockheed called the civilian version of the herk, but I dont think thats what caused your current issue as that was weeks ago, and you still have two left your fleet, if it was because of the name change it should have effected all off them.

I see there are a bunch now on the traders list canadian registrations, I think this was caused by something else.

Justin, a name change will not cause you to loose your fleet. The database works off the entry number for that aircraft. Editing the aircraft's info does not modify the entry number.

BTW, I'm going to edit it again actually. It's really the L382 Hercules since the original aircraft was the C-130E.

I suppose its debatable which one to use. The L-382 is the internal lochkeed model number for aircraft produced for the military customers while the L-100 is the model number for aircraft produced for civilian customers.

Its listed on airliners.net as the L-100 http://www.airliners.net/info/stats.main?id=270

Actually, L382 is a recognized model number by the FAA. I did some research on it for an FS project about a year and a half ago, and found that the L382 is certified separately from the C-130. The FAA's certification data shows the L382 as a "civilianized" C-130E. The L100 and L100-30 are equivalent to the C-130A, C-130B, and the original C-130-30 which was offered but never sold to anyone until modified for the UK to become their Hercules CC.2. As the data we have is for the C-130E (mainly the cost number) it's more appropriate to use L382 instead of L100.

Meh, I'm not complaining about losing the hercs, or mad for that matter, just like to see them put back into my fleet. (I have a count on how many I own on the fleet list in the wardair forum)

And Cap, I never said a name change would affect my birds, I said an aircraft type deletion. ;)

Justin, you're not reading what's on the screen.

The C-130 entry wasn't deleted. It was renamed L100 and now L382. If you lost airplanes from your fleet, it's not due to anything done in the Aircraft Type database.

I realize it wasn't deleted Cap.

However: Had it been deleted, and a new type been created, that would explain the dissapearance of the birds. That was my first theory, since no deletion occured, I'm trying to figure what would cause their disspearance. I am fully aware that edits to an existing type, including name, do not affect airline's fleet counts. :)
