Flynet runs as background program

Post by BigQ » Sun Aug 27, 2006 2:32 pm

Since installing the new client, flynet now runs as a background program, and i can't get to see it as i could before.

installation process:
download
extraction
replacement of old client by drag-and-drop, and same for the new libmysql file

always worked before, doesn't now...

Hm, what do you mean with running in background ? Do you see it in your task-bar and just can't maximize it or does it only show up as running process in the task manager ?

Actually I have had my pilot Canuck request assistance from me about this problem.... I was going to have to visit him and see if the problem was how he installed Flynet (same method as Big Q) or not. I guess it's not what he did in the installation though because I did the same thing and have no problems.

hm, sounds very strange, but it's possible that the problem is the client and not the system. You might think that the client only communicates with the website and FSUIPC and that's it. I would be very happy if it was like that, but unfortunately you also have communicate with the system and a hobby-programmer like me easily can cause some bugs there.

I can't remember having changed anything in that direction but could you please try to run the old client again and see if the message window ( "Client out of date" ) appears ?

...and what was the result when you started the old client ? ;-)
It could be possible that the client doesn't show up until you tell Norton to allow the client to connect to the internet, but I guess you already did that.
