B737-400combi: weight correction proposal

Post by sturman » Wed Jul 19, 2023 2:53 am

I would like to make a small correction to the configuration of the B737-400combi. In its parameters the empty airplane weight (DOW) is 33643 kg, the same as the B737-400. But this is not correct, as the B737-400combi should be lighter. Half of the passenger cabin has been converted into a cargo area. That is at least the seats have been removed. I didn't find this parameter, but if we trust "Historic Jetliners Group", this weight for this model is 66760.0 lb or 30281.8 kg.

Your going to have to forgive me here. I am not putting you in this category but I get a lot of complainers who want more more more, and at the current time my patience has been tested quite a bit. While the combi has may have fewer seats, it also has a reinforced cargo floor which adds weight. So please, do your research, find a good reliable reference and submit a change on the platform with a link to that reference.

I just looked at the two, the combi has the same number of seats as the standard. With the new updates to seat configuration, as seats are remove the DOW of the aircraft is reduced by 20kg for each economy seat removed, so that does some of what your suggesting.

Okay. I apologize. You don't have to worry. I just used a model from HJG where this weight is indicated in the aircraft.cfg file and I didn't want to change this data so as not to interfere with a well working model. It's not crucial, I can use a classic passenger B737-400.

P.S.: All the more that I bought the "combi" model only because it is closer to ferry.
