New Server Test - Volunteers needed

Post by joefremont » Wed Jul 29, 2009 5:27 pm

As most of you already know our current server is overloaded and we need to expand to a new one. We have setup a test of a different server using a machine I have borrowed from the company I work for. We want to run a test to see if it and the data line its connected to will meet our needs. If this test is successful we will purchase a more powerful machine and upgrade the data line from a residential account to a commercial account.

So to do this test we need about 12 volunteers to do flights on the test server on this Friday, July 31st, between 6pm UTC and 8pm UTC (Starts 8pm Munich, 7pm London, 11am San Francisco). Respond to this thread if you want to take part. We will e-mail all participants the URL to the test site shortly before we start. We will try to find a way so that you will all get credit for your flight hours.

Gladly Joe.

Edit: Actually after reading my emails this morning, I got a request to be somewhere else till 12am UTC. Darn, was looking forward to testing the new server. If the time slot is larger (such as a 24 hour test period) I'll still be in though otherwise I'm out.

Hi AdmiralRolfe, does this mean your in? That would be five so far. The only limit is the flight should be finished near the end of the test at 8pm UTC. But if its not that's ok, it just means we might not be able to record your flight hours, but your participation would still be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered.

I have e-mailed instructions to everyone who responded and send another copy via PM. If you don't get the e-mail, double check your spam folder as when I sent it to my home e-mail account, it marked it as spam.

Test starts in about an hour so its not to late for anyone else who wants to help.
