Awards

Post by Konny » Fri Mar 10, 2006 8:43 pm

Well, finally I was able to finish the awards-system which has been lying in my FlyNET folder for months. There will now be given monthly awards to best pilots in different categories. The awards are calculated automatically every end of a month. You can see the awards in each pilot's profile or on the awards-page in the database.

Currently there is:
- Most active pilot: The sum of each flight's hours divided by simrate
- Pilot with most miles flown
- Pilot with best flight rating ( with more than three flights )

If you want more awards, please tell me which ones you are missing.

Are these going to be monthly awards? It'd make sense...

Oh, and how do you make selecting the pilot with the best flight rating, since it is quite easy to get many flights at 100%...

I'd say to give out a special mention of perfect flights for a whole months to whomever achieves it... much bigger goal, much bigger reward, fewer contenders (unless you work hard).

I also think that there should be awards for the VA's themselves. These could be one-off such as "most unique fleet" where the airline has gone against tradition and purchased different aircraft to many VA's. Also, supporting the "softest touchdown" idea, there could be an award for the airline that on average has the softest landings.
These are just thoughts, but I would like to see awards for VA's.

That confirms my theory that the vspeed calculation has problems, i mean, i do a very nice landing, and it posts it as more than a 1000 fpm...

Does it BEEP at you right as you touch down? Or a bit later after touchdown? Because if the beep comes later, the program is hesitating, and thus it records your landing incorectly (Ive had it do that to me sometimes)

On the topic of "Beeps after touchdown", I seem to recall a post somewhere that If you happen to "bounce" on touchdown, the client records the final touchdown of the aircraft, which, if you bounced, would seem to report a false touchdown rate. Not completely sure, but is this true?

Yep, I also noticed that the touchdown vspeed recognition isn't very reliable. Especially when you bump the runway several times it often comes out as 0fpm.

That explains why i got the -53 fpm value then... i bounced 3 times..
And Justin, I never get any beeps... never ever
