Adding airports to the database

Post by Konny » Tue Feb 07, 2006 4:50 pm

I just finished the airport-add-script :

http://flynet.en-studios.de/add_airport.php

I think the fields are quite selfexplaining, but don't hesitate to ask if there's still something unclear.

Hmmm, for some reason, since yesterday when I tried that, it doesn't seem to work:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '"' in /home/www/n4a422/html/en-studios/flynet/website/add_airport.php on line 113

What about an airport with the wrong ICAO i.e., KABQ - Albuquerque Intl Support. The database has it listed as KIKR. Can you fix that.

tnx

Oddly enough, ABQ is both KABQ and KIKR. Depends on if you're with the military or not. If you're with the military, then you're probably flying to KIKR (Kirtland AFB) which is on the NE side of the airprt to the west of the N/S runway. If you're not in the military, then you're going to KABQ and you're going to end up on the West side of the N/S runway either at the GA ramps or the Passenger Terminals.

It's one of those oddly done airports that in addition to being dual use, it's identified as two separate airports depending on the use.

Is there a good place to find IATA codes for airports anywhere in the world ?

Actually I'm trying to add airports in Madagascar, I have a link for airports charts, but i don't find this information.

Thanks for your help

Just out of interest, when I need to add an airport this is what I do :

Airport name : Use the one that FS9 uses
IATA : Usually this site http://gc.kls2.com (using the ICAO code for searching)
ICAO : Use the one FS9 uses
City : Use the one FS9 uses or the one from IATA search if 'well known' - sometimes FS9 a bit obscure
Country : Use the one FS9 uses so you'll be able to find it
Lat/Long: Use FS9 co-ordinates and this site http://boulter.com/gps/ to convert to deg/minutes plus it gives a nice satellite image to confirm location
Altitude : Use the one FS9 uses
Runway lengths : use the ones FS9 uses

I tried to add one Nosy Be in madagascar,

This must be my luck, the names are not the same for your recomanded site, and documents i have (by the way the same name as FS9)

So I think this is why It was not added

I try again

Thanks for your posts
