MZFW included in cargo calculation
Hi there,
Has been a long time since I last worked on FlyNET. Sorry that I never gave any sign of live. I just was occupied by real life.
Anyway, I just activated the MZFW in the cargo calculation. From now on the formula for the cargo calculation looks like this:
1. Calculate number of passengers
2. Take the maximum cargo value and deduct the baggage ( PAX x 25kg )
3. If the new maximum cargo value is higher than "MZFW - DOW - PAX x (25kg + 77kg)", adjust the maximum cargo value
4. Calculate cargo

Maybe this is out of date so I apologize in advance, just in case.
I am relatively new to this flying environmet (excellent one btw) even though I am a long timer in FS (since 1984 with FS1). Just booked a flight with the A300 and the briefing report shows a ZFW of 130.5 T
My problem is that the flight will require 32 T (27+5) which will put the MTOW in 162.5T (listed MTOW is 142 T) so I need to cut the cargo load by 20T. How can I do that? Will appreciate your prompt help. Otherwise I will be penalized for cancelling the flight.

Hi,
At the moment the aircraft will always be 'virtually' loaded to MZFW and there is no option to reduce payload. In effect, in your example, you will be overweight but will have the extra revenue. It is on the 'to do' list to incorporate an accurate weight calculation to enable you to offload cargo/pax (=revenue) to keep within aircraft structural limits. There are some aircraft out there that have MZFW = MTOW so in theory cannot fly anywhere. Hopefully we won't have long to wait for this new feature. In the meantime enjoy the extra revenue while it lasts.

If you don't mind, I would like to address to you a problem we are having with our DC10/30.
We are having heavy revenue losses because, for some reason, the Client does not assign cargo, only passengers.
We believe it maybe caused by something in the aircraft.cfg file but have no clue on how to fix it.
Would you be willing to help us with this?
We were thinking on grounding our DC10 fleet but it is our main line of planes.
Will appreciate your input on this and thanks in advance.

My VA does not operate DC-10-30 so I would not wish to submit an edit of the aircraft data, but the data as submitted already is incorrect which is why you are not carrying cargo.
Boeing Commercial aircraft website has data for DC-10-30 as follows :-
Op Empty weight 120,742 kgs
MZFW 166,922 KGS
MTOW 251,744 kgs
Standard Pax 255
If I operated these aircraft I would submit these figures. If you want to submit them, go to the aircraft types page and use the edit button alongside the aircraft type and make the changes. Don't worry about reducing the pax number as you will pick up extra freight, as FlyNET will always load you to MZFW. So after the above edit you could expect to carry the following :-
MZFW - OEW = 46180 kgs (payload available)
255 pax x 103 kgs (pax + baggage wt) = 26265kgs
This leaves 19915kgs available for cargo carrying.

With Max Fuel (for the long run) and Full PAX the a/c is already very near MTOW so there is no room for Cargo.
Pretty much the way John has explained above. Sometimes have a small ammount of cargo on a short route where there is not much fuel in the A/C.

This does not necessarily allow you to carry enough fuel for the sector or reduce payload to carry fuel. Regardless of sector length the payloads will/should always be the same. This is the main reason why the payload calcs need to be more complex to allow maximum flexibility for the VA's hence my post Here.
