Virtual Airlines & Use of Real-World Airline Names

Post by CAPFlyer » Thu Feb 15, 2007 4:31 pm

This is a notice to *ALL* people who want to operate on FlyNET. Konrad (aka Konny), the guy who started this whole thing, has put in one rule that has never changed - If you want to use the name of a Real-World Airline, you *MUST* provide a copy of the letter of consent from the real airline for your virtual version to exist. If you do not, we will not honor any aircraft order requests from your VA.

Sorry guys, but in this day of a litigious society, we can't take any risks. Northwest Airlines and American Airlines are very strict on who can (or in NWA's case can't) operate as a VA. Several others are well known for being very quick to issue a cease-and-desist order on any VA replicating them that they find during weekly checks of the internet. They also go after any orginization related to them for "allowing" that VA to exist.

Please people, it's not hard to come up with your own VA name. Please do so. You can copy the real world airline's fleet and routes, but just don't copy the name and livery.
