Probably one for Konny.

What ports + port types does the mysql client use. Just want to make sure I explicitly define them in my firewall.

You shouldn't have to configure any ports at all. If I'm not mistaken it wil probably be using port 80 (which is open by default as it is the ie port). But I'll leave this for the experts.

MySQL uses port 3306, port 80 is for http.

That's right. FlyNET uses the standard MySQL port 3306 to communicate with the database.
