Aircraft type check

Post by MaxBeech » Wed Jan 06, 2021 7:33 am

Hello all,

I did some research on how the client is checking the correct aircraft type.
I understand that it is mainly done by weight comparison, number of engines etc...
But what is the tolerance in the weight comparison?
Is it possible to purchase a Boeing 747-8F and fly that cargo routes with the 747-8I model in MSFS2020?
Their weights are not exactly the same...

its pretty flexible actually, you need to have the right number of engines and within 20% of the listed weight. Even within one model the official weights vary, if you take a look at this Boeing document on the 747-400, the difference in MTOW for the heaviest and lightest version is about 9%.
