Floatplanes interchangeable with wheeled ones?

Post by SJDobby » Wed Jul 05, 2017 8:52 am

Hi

Can I ask if wheel/float/ski configurations of aircraft are interchangeable as far as FSA client is concerned?

For instance, if my airline has a Piper J3, can I use it with wheels one day and with floats (at a seaplane base) the next?

I use the J3 as an example because in the database at the moment there doesn't appear to be a floatplane version of it, and I wondered what would be required to be able to fly a floatplane J3 from a seaplane base without incurring an FSA client "wrong aircraft" or other error/penalty. (Change to aircraft.cfg? New aircraft type in FSA database and airline purchase of that type? etc)

Cheers

Yes, the client won't really care. Float version of the J3 is close enough to the wheeled version that it will allow it. As long as the weight of the two aircraft is close enough.
