Question about inactive airlines

Hi, im curious how many time a inactive airlines stay alive, because example i see today a airlines "Global Cargo" with a last flight done in 2012. That why im curious how many time they stay alive and why they still can lease aircraft?

As long as the airline has a pilot who keeps logging into FSA the airline will remain active.
