Starting 02 FEB 2011, the Great Australian Air Rally of 2011 will be underway. Hosted annually by Bluegrass Airlines, the GAAR rally is one of the longest running organized rallies on the internet, celebrating it's 10th anniversary. What better way to celebrate it than to take a trip up Australia's Gold Coast to Cairns? 10 Legs over 27 Days, the rally will cover the Great Barrier Reef and some of the beautiful northeastern Queensland area of Australia. However, don't plan on bringing your King Air or 737. Several airstrips have less than 2000 feet of runway available and the rules require that all entrants be of aircraft that first flew prior to 1950 or their successors and all must be powered by either piston (inline, vee, opposed, or radial) engine.
More information is available on the GAAR website - http://www.bluegrassairlines.com/bgad/gaar_2011/
Also, I have setup an EVENT on the FSAirlines EVENT pages for GAAR so please, if you are going to participate, add yourself to the participant list with your name and what you're flying so we can keep track of how many FSAirlines Users are participating!
