MD-11 question?

Post by Alky » Mon May 25, 2009 1:31 am

The PMDG MD-11 complains about "stab trim" before take-off and I haven't been able to find how it is adjusted. I've checked some of the PDF manuals with no luck. If any of you PMDG MD-11 pilots could help out, it would be appreciated :)

i dont have it, but you trim it through the game/controler... i have a spin wheel on my joystick that i use for trim... and if you look at the trim wheel in the sim in cockpit or on the engine panel (where ever they have it) there should be markings for takeoff, landing, etc...

Hi,

For stab (stabiliser/tailplane) trim read elevator trim.

It turns out I had a button on my controller set for elevator trim and it works, but I'd never hear it called stab trim, that's what threw me off LOL.
Thanx guys!! :)

I'm guessing stab trim is short for stabilizer trim (refering to the flight surfaces)?

Well pardon me... I'm not a real world pilot and my total experience other than being an airline passenger amounts to 1/2 hour ride in a Cessna 172. Till now the "horizontal stabilizer flight surface" was known to me as the elevators! Have a nice day!

I'm sorry if that seemed like an attack, but it was actually me asking a question to more knowledgeble aviators than myself. I'm hoping your comment was also a misunderstanding, and not an attack :?

To answer you trim question.......

If you want to set the stab. trim in the MD-11, LMB on the click spot SD and you see a screen with on top of it a little, what looks like a plane, icon.
If you push trim buttons 7 or 1 on the numlock a slider begins to move, do that so that it turns green, then the plane is trimmed for take-off.
