Changing my airline name

Post by danmand » Sun Jan 04, 2009 2:23 am

I tried to change the name of my airline but it gave me a message saying that a real airline exists with that name.

My first question is that the airline has been out of business since the 80's and I can't find a current airline with that name. Can I still use it?

My second question is did the request for the name change go through even though it gave me the warning?

Thanks.

My current airline is Atlanta Airlines. The name I want to change to is Sunbird Airlines.

I found out about the airline when I was speaking to a friend of mine who use to fly for them before they went under. I did a Google search and saw (as far as I can tell) that they haven't flown since the 80's. There was also another airline in Australia with the same name but different logo. They haven't flown since the mid 90's. Again, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for helping with it.

Okay, I've pulled Sunbird from the list of active airlines. You can now submit an airline name change request.

I was just looking at Sunbird Airlines overview and i couldn't help but notice that there are two pilots flying for them with the same name. I thought that was against the rules to have multiple accounts. http://www.fsairlines.net/index.php5?st ... 78&p=14979

Umm... might want to check the names again.

One is Daniel
One is David

Close, but I suspect it's a father & son or brothers. Not unusual on here or even in real world aviation.

Actually, It's my brother. I got him hooked on FS too.
Now my dad is getting interested. His name is Daniel also so I"m not sure what we are going to do if that happens. Maybe we can come up with some sort of alias.

Just have him put his middle initial into his name. (I.e. "Daniel X." in the "First Name" column when you sign up).

Or, if he doesn't have a middle name, put Senior or Dad ( :) ) after.

So if we do that how do I let you guys know that it is in fact my dad and not me with another account. A potential problem which started this thread?

Unlike some users ;), we generally trust that our users are being honest and not duplicating accounts. Usually if they are, we find out in short order and they end up getting removed.
