Active hacker(s)?

Post by ruudopdeweegh » Fri Aug 29, 2008 11:18 am

Upon my login I encountered a new news bulletin:
Something :)
...You know what's funny...I know that you won't change password because if you do so, your FlyNET Client won't work :) hehehe
btw. I can send you my address if you want to sue me...I'm sure that it will make a lot of people laugh out loud :)

The effort to create application like this is probably huge so it would be pitty to be ruined just because someone is bad programmer...

Can somebody tell me what's going on?

Ruud.

From what I can understand as I have watched these events unfold since last night (beginning with, I believe, I member of the FlyNET admin putting up a "cryptic" message on the site home page - with a pic of Bart Simpson writing, "I will not argue with idiots on YouTube"), this is a result of a behind-the-scenes arguement between the "hacker" and the FlyNET staff. Unfortunately this has spilled over onto the front page of the site and is now affecting us all. I don't understand the claim that if the password was changed the Client wouldn't work :?

The issue is being dealt with. Right now nothing in the database or in the functionality has been affected.

The hacker's new message appeared again.
Hackers disappear in prison for many years even nothing has been damaged. This is purely a police matter.
I hope his/het identity will be found very soon.

Ruud.

I hope we have plugged the hole the hacker found. All pilots are going to need to download and re-install the client software again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Will it be reported to the police? I really hope so... If he was a friendly hacker he should have reported it to the staff without writing news messages..

Ruud.

Well we are continuing to investigate but I can't comment further.

Guys, please let this drop. He has not done anything malicious at this point, so please just leave the issue be and let us deal with it. He obviously reads the forum so it doesn't help to have everyone complaining where he can see it.

Yeah

But I noticed that something must went wrong, bacause today I can't connect to database with the Client. Webpage ok, but just can't fly. Client states that "login data incorrect".

Working update
Because of everyone blaming me for Client not working, I chenged id a little bit so it works now.

New client is updated and it works now. Do not blame me if FlyNET admins change password again...I will not be responsible for that. Go to The Client page to download second client update. ...I hope this will prove I was friendly and that intension was not to shut down this service... Bye

Looks like it may be the devs fixing the security deal, not sure.
