PRESS RELEASE: THOMSON FLY VIRTUAL TEST FLY THERE 767-300

Post by ben_davies247 » Tue Aug 01, 2006 5:20 pm

Well, Thomson Fly Virtual took their first delivery today of a 767-300, the aircraft was taken out for a test flight to pass its Thomson Fly Satisfaction Certificate (basically, if we dont like it, we send it back  )
Went well, press were everywere, so a few shots were caught. Here they are:

Lining up 6L, rudder, alieron and elevator tests taking place

Lift Off, everything good so far

Gear went in without a problem

In the traffic pattern, flaps still out as its only a half circuit, takes to long to set up approach only 5 minutes after takeoff in a big jet like the 767.

Flaps extended fully, Gear came down again, all systems good

The touch down was popular

Parked up at the gate, Certificate of satisfaction passed, and will enter service on the first of september, hopefully all permissions from Thomson Fly will be through. And those of you with sharp eyes, will have noticed the modification on the tail

As for our first delivery, which took place yesterday, of a 757-200 ex Brittania Direct/Thomson aircraft. That did not pass its certificate of satisfaction. When on a route suiting flight (to see wheather the aircraft suited the route) to Gran Canaria, is suffered severe auto pilot failures (for real, not kidding) and could not maintain a certain altitude without holding a pitch of 12 degrees! Stalling several times, the Test Captain ordered it to be diverted to Birmingham. We have sent this aircraft back to Boeing, and they are sending us a fully repaired 752, with a complimentry respray to Thomson Fly Virtuals latest colours.

The Cruise angle on the 752:
