Advice on the A340

Post by Shodan » Tue Mar 25, 2008 8:25 pm

Just started flying the A340, after switching from the 747 and I'm seeing something that I dont quite understand. According to FlyNets database, the A340-500 has a cargo capacity of 62,832lbs. I've just booked my second flight with this thing and on both occasions the Briefing Document says that I am carrying 0lbs of cargo.

Is this a bug or am I just being really unlucky? .. as zero cargo on a long haul flight pretty much guarantees that I will make a loss every time.

Any thoughts will be gratefully received.

I read somewhere that in FlyNET website the gross weight is taken into account...so I am guessing that the number of passengers combined with the weight of the fuel has got to do something with this...
Quantum is the master of that though.

The MZFW was wrong in the database, at only 232kg. As I think this is used in the cargo calculations that is probably the trouble. I've submitted an edit to set the correct value, so hopefully that will cure the problem you are having.
