Oil Rigs

Post by j4cko56 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 10:20 am

I have noticed on the airports list, there are an awful lot of oil rigs in the north sea. And i would love to get some helicopter flights to and from them, trouble is, i dont know where to get the oil rigs for flight sim. Does any one have any idea? he routes have been flown by CBF so there must be some kind of rig to land on!

You should be able to download them on AVSIM or Flightsim.com.

They were done by the Offshore Design Group (OFDG) which I believe has now been disbanded.

Yes FS-ODG is the Offshore Design Group. They've also released a new piece of software that should be interesting for FS users because using it allows you to "backdate" a single version of FS (instead of having to have multiple installations) so that only scenery that is valid for a given date shows up. Whether this gains wide acceptance or many want to go through the process of making all your scenery compliant (I think it's all based on a text file, I've not delved deeply into it yet), remains to be seen, but if it becomes well accepted, it'll be great for those who want to be able to fly their older aircraft in the appropriate era and now have to have multiple FS installs to do that.
