Flying for other Airlines

Just a quick question to anyone that can help,

Is it possible or can it be made possible to fly for more than one airline at a time? I run KingFisher Helicopters VA but would like to do some flying for ScotKent Aviation. can this be done as a 'pilot for hire' type of arrangement? Or even to be a member of both VA's. This would benefit many I am sure and would open up opportunities for VA's to work together.

Any help or suggestions welcomed. :)
ok I was being Blond I hadn't assigned a type rating. Forget my last. i'll go back to the Remedial class.

Please do a search before you post, this has been brought up before and the answer was no and will most likely continue to be no.

sadly. I'd fully support this as an option.

And we will continue to not support it. You prove to me that there is a real airline out there that allows you to fly for a potential competitor at the same time and we might re-think it, but I can tell you with fairly complete certainty that such a situation doesn't exist, especially with the very restrictive crew duty day regulations that exist not only in each nation, but also under ICAO rules.

If you want to be able to fly soe of another VA's flights, you can establish a partnership and then arrange a codeshare on those flights. Usually you should expect the other VA to request some of your flights too.

well,
I wouldn't mind wetleasing a plane and a pilot to some other airline
here on FSairlines.
Rather like Titan Airways from the UK is doing, for instance.
(you call, our plane leaves within 2 hours to pick up your stranded passengers whenever,where-ever)

But I think that would be way to difficult to code,
as you would also need some way to transfer money to another airline,
without goods changing hands,to name but one thing.

Or maybe have my dash 8's fly in the colors of BC North doing their regional work,
so they can concentrate on the longhaul stuff,or vv.

The Code Sharing system right now can be used as a form of Wet Leasing. Basically, you can lease the "wet lease" aircraft to the VA which wants it at a low rate, initiate a code share, and then have them add the routes which your crews will fly, and then have your crews fly the routes. The VA that is leasing the airplane gets a chunk of the revenue and your guys fly.

I am going to study that one.
Looks like an interesting idea to me.
Thanks Christopher.

Ok so I've got code sharing set up with a partnership and Ive searched the FSWiki and here on how to actualy fly theou routs. They don't apear for me when at the relevant airport but show in the flight plan view. Can anyone give me an 'Idiots guide' how to get the code sharing to work and to fly the routes?

Any help would be greatfuly appreciated.

Have you got the correct type of aircraft at the airport.?You can edit the type of aircrafts to be used on these flightplans.

Most probably, you have accepted the codeshared flights with the type of aircraft they use for flying them and for which either you are not type rated or you don't have the correct aircraft type at the airport. You can edit them, for your side, so you can use your own aircraft. Do so, have that aircraft type at the departure airport and everything will be ok.
