I was a member of IVAO. For "reading material" you can visit IVAO academy http://academy.ivao.aero/ and division sites.
They offer lots of documents.
Also IVAO forum is a good place to read / ask questions.

Re: New Penalty Idea
If you want to control only the ones leave the simulator unattended then the 18000 feet or lower thingy wouldn't be very good because if you are flying online (let's say during an event or fly-in) the ATCO might require you to hold somewhere near airport (bear in mind that not all the ATCOs follow r...

Re: New Penalty Idea
Can be implemented for the FL filled. If the a/c is still at the filled FL within a certain radius around destination airfield then the client dings and applies the penalty.
So I think there should also be an option entered by the pilot for FL and/or altitude inside the client.

Re: Tired of "one man shows" looking for pilots?
never used vatsim... is it easy? ive heard horror stories of being yelled at when new to real world procedures is there a noob school on it? and could ya poss provide a link? @ VATSIM and/or IVAO you face a real person instead of idiot AI ATC of MSFS. As the ATCO is a human being (s)he has a person...

Tired of "one man shows" looking for pilots? 2nd edition
Tired of "one man shows" looking for pilots? Then do not join Air Mermaid. We never provide you with training, goodies, hubs, textures etc. Even nothing more than 1% of salary ;) We strongly believe that too many cooks spoil the broth. Two is more than enough :p Sorry Brian couldn't resist. I am in ...

Re: Question to all
Yeah. Getting guys is tough. Over a year we've had quite a few sign up, but for some reason most of them never do fly. Finding a good active pilot on here would be extremely lucky. I think also only the CEO's of VA's post in these forums, so it's not really the best place to go "looking" for guys e...

Re: Routes
The penalty thing isn't that good. Apart from being realistic, there is also another little problem for those flying online. The human ATCO might send you direct to a fix. So, instead of a penalty system FSA can implement a bonus system. If you follow a route you get something extra and if you don't...

Re: Routes
I take flightsimming as a game when it comes to fly the a/c. Thus, less realistic a/c (like, Overland instead of PMDG and/or Wilco, SGA instead of Maddog and such). FSNavigator instead of a MCDU or a FMC. This also depends on the funds you can raise for simming. But on the other hand, I prefer my ro...

Re: Fly World-Wide - A cut above the rest!
Off topic question.
What a/c is the first one?
Looks like a B737 with IAE2500 engines.

Re: ability for leasers to repo aircraft from leasee
What is the problem here?
The airline X leases an a/c from me so they have paid for the lease and has the right to use the a/c.
It is their problem if they fly or keep it on the ground or fly 7/24 as long as they return it in conditions and to the place I have asked at the time of contract.

Re: How do you decide on an aircraft??
To be honest, when deciding on the a/c first thing I look for if it has a paintkit, then if it has a nice model (not an ugly beast like A380 for example). After that I usually visit the real producers web pages for info. You can also check other VA fleet pages and see how much fuel they burn with a ...
